Hello! This is my first post for the Carlson family blog. I've wanted to do this for a long time and finally got around to it! I hope to update this blog several times a month. I will probably add pictures of the kids and their activities most frequently with other items of interest as they come my way.
By way of introduction and catching everyone up, I'll give you a brief overview of what our family is up to these days.
Mark is still working as a land surveyor but does spend most of his days doing GIS based work. He loves the GIS aspect of his job and talks about things (most of which I just nod in agreement with since I have no idea what he's talking about) with great excitement and enthusiasm. He is also an amazing husband who has recently taken to emptying the dishwasher in the mornings before he goes to work. (Oh, how I love this man!) He is also in the process of training for a half-marathon that's coming up in less than a month. I'm so proud of him! He is such a wonderful example to our children about what it means to persevere and dedicate yourself to a task while working toward a goal. He's just such a good daddy!
Colby has recently started attending half-day Kindergarten here in Andover. He LOVES it so much! He has an amazing teacher who inspires and encourages him every single day. He wants so badly to learn to read and I'm sure he will realize this goal within the next few months. He is a tremendously beautiful child on the inside and out. He has a heart that is kind and compassionate. To top it all off, he's a lot of fun to be around and has a great sense of humor. He is playing flag football this Fall and is enjoying it immensely.
Cecilia is just about to turn a whopping three years old! She is into anything pink or purple. She loves princesses, Tinkerbell, and Hello Kitty. She has no problem keeping up with the "big boys" in the neighborhood as she tears around on her bike or scooter. We parents have decided that if her motorized gator and four-wheeler skills are any indication she just might be the next Danica Patrick (or at the very least she'll never have any trouble finding a parking space at the mall)! She is also quite good at playing house and being a terrific mama to all her babies. She is my sweet, sweet girl and yet can be a real spit-fire. One of our favorite things to do is share in a giggle fit right before bedtime!
As for me...life is so good and God is great! I have recently started a new job as the Director of the Kid's Day in Christ program at our church, Chapel Hill Fellowship. We provide a Mom's Day Out program for nearly 50 children each week. There are five teachers, all of which are amazing! I truly feel as though this position was a "God Wink" as it is everything I've been praying for. It allows me to share my faith, work with children, get some much needed adult time, and yet still spend time with my own kiddos. I only work 10 hours a week so it works perfectly with our active family life.
Well, that pretty much sums up all that is new and exciting in our lives right now. I'll post some pix &/or videos in the next week or so. Check back soon and please leave some comments as we'd love to hear from you!
